The Marchwood Fete was revived in 2006  by a group of enthusiastic volunteers who recognised the need for a major fun event that would bring the village together and help provide a sense of community.

The fete also provides a fantastic platform for local voluntary groups and businesses to demonstrate their presence as well as providing an opportunity to raise funds for their organisations.

The committee work all year round to organise the event. Entertainers have to be booked, up to 45 stall pitches have to be filled, refreshments have to be organised and not to forget the dreaded insurance and health and safety issues to be resolved.

The fete opens at 12 o’clock with a themed fancy dress parade and it is non stop activity until it is time to go home.

The fete takes place at the Lloyd Recreation Ground in Marchwood. Thanks go to the trustees of the ground for their support each year and the ground staff who make sure that the field is in pristine condition.

We have a good selection of local home grown activities in the arena as well as professional entertainment.

It is wonderful to see the people of Marchwood and the Waterside enjoying themselves, which makes it all worthwhile and motivates everyone for the next year.

We have been very fortunate to have excellent support from our sponsors, Hendy Group, Veolia, Oceanic as well as ABP, Fullers, Sunnyfields, Sweet Soul Café, without these supporters we would not be able to put on such a fantastic show, so many, many thanks to them.

We have to say a big thank you to  the army, based at the Military Port in the village, for the tremendous help that they provide every year.

They provide tents, assistance and put on displays. We must also never forget the support of the Fijian community who are also based at the Marchwood Military Port and who provide such colourful entertainment each year.

With our own local Chinese Dragon you are sure to be amazed at the variety and colour of our event.

We are already working towards our next event which will be on the 4th July 2009. We look forward to seeing you there.
