Dear fellow villagers of Marchwood

Like all of us I am sure you were looking forward to this year’s Superhero themed village fete on 4 July 2020.

Unfortunately the current situation with Coronavirus (Covid-19) and lockdown in the UK means that we have had to take the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.

After careful consideration and because of the uncertainty at the present time as to how long the lockdown will last, we have decided not to postpone the fete to later on this year but to transfer the whole event to 3 July 2021.

This will include our Superheros theme.

All our entertainers have been notified and re-booked for the new date next year and all stall holders and utility providers are being notified and provided with various options.

Those who have kindly volunteered to sponsor us have also been contacted.

Keep an eye out on our Facebook page; (https://www.facebook.com/groups/Marchwoodfete) as we are currently exploring the  possibility of putting together a video (kindly offered by Bill Brookman - one of our entertainers), which will give everyone a taste of what’s to come at next year’s event.

Apologies that this may cause disappointment for many of you because we know that the fete is a popular highlight of the Summer, which brings the whole village together, and for many of our local groups is a major opportunity for fund raising, which is why the decision to cancel was not taken lightly.

Please put the 3 July 2021 in your diaries for next year’s fete, when we look forward to seeing you.
